Who We Are

In 1983, after serving in Africa as dorm parents for 53 ninth & tenth grade girls, as well as teachers at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya, the Lord led Rick and Margaret to pioneer Missionary Kids Ministry, (MKM), a "home away from home" in Hatfield, PA for high school and college age MKs. It was their joy to open their home as a place of spiritual, emotional and physical help for MKs in transition from high school overseas to college or employment in the USA. During those years, 85 MKs from 27 countries and 28 mission agencies lived with them and became part of their family. Rick & Margaret also kept in touch with hundreds of other MKs in transition throughout the US. It is such joy to maintain ongoing relationships with so many MKs and their families.

When Rick and Margaret met in 1971 and married in 1976, their hearts were burdened for the care of missionary kids (MKs) and missionary families. While Rick grew up as an MK in East Africa, God sensitized Margaret to the heart-needs of missionary families and many others as she traveled and ministered cross-culturally with her parents, Dr Jack and Eleanor Murray.

The Lord moved Rick to Heaven in November 2005 following a heartbreaking 13-month cancer journey. God comforted Margaret and their five precious children in amazing ways and continued to faithfully provide as they ministered to MKs. In 2008, the Lord led Margaret to expand the ministry to Missionary Kare Ministry (MKM), housing and debriefing missionary families in The Haven, a warm, loving and peaceful sanctuary for God's servants in times of special need. Since then, Margaret also welcomed a son-in-love and two daughters-in-love, and loves being Mimi to four precious grandbabies.

In 2019 God called Margaret to further expand the ministry by establishing Mercifully Known Ministries (MKM), a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Margaret and her family continue to disciple MKs, debrief missionaries and now also come alongside widows and others in the community who need tangible expressions of God's merciful grace. They speak at conferences and in churches, sensitizing others to the needs of MKs, missionaries, widows, and those in need around them, especially unbelievers. Margaret is grateful for God's clear direction through His Word, prayer and the counsel and prayers of family, friends and supporters.

Trust is the conviction and confidence that God will fulfill His will, His way, on His timetable, for His glory!
